Mad dash to St Andrews!
Posted by drew on Apr 06
Last Sunday Paul Dalby and I set off at 7am to go and play a 4 ball event at St Andrews Dukes course. We are both very proud country members of The St Andrews GC, and as such are able to play in all club comps.
Great idea a month ago, not such a great idea on Saturday eve! Even so off we trot 286 mls north, have lunch at the club overlooking the 18th green of the Old course…..heaven ! we tee off in a gale in the company of 2 fellow members in a 4 ball aggregate comp. After a real wobble of a start we got it back on the closing holes to record 70 cumulative points, not too bad we thought in the conditions. Anyhow after the return drive and home at midnight, we find out the following day that we won by 2 pts, all worth it then! Played one won one!
Monday at 8am , back on the road to take Matt and other juniors of Lymm Gc , to visit Conwy and try their hand at links golf, 8 holes they lasted until the beating rain had the better of them. We will try again next Monday.
Today was a clients 70th birthday treat at Delamere Forest, a gorgeous course in Cheshire and one of my favs! We had a great day for it too, happy birthday Barry!
Cheers, off now to place a few £2 ew bets on a number of players for the Masters. Luke, Lee, Kaymer, Dustin, Charl S and Justin Rose to name a few!
good luck to them all, Andrew
